To enhance the disciplinary development, the Department of Statistics and Data Science convened an expert consultation meeting. Professor Fang Ying, Vice President of Xiamen University, was invited to provide guidance. Ping Weiying, Vice President of Nanchang University, Kuang Xuewen, Dean of SEM, Shao Hanhua, Vice Dean of SEM, as well as Zhao Xueyan, Director of the Department of Statistics and Data Science, Cai Wenxin, Deputy Director, Xiong Huanhuan, Party Branch Secretary, and researcher Feng Dongfa attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Zhao Xueyan presented a detailed report on the current state of the Statistics at Nanchang University, covering faculty development, research platform construction, and talent cultivation achievements. She reviewed the current strengths and weaknesses of the discipline and elaborated on the key challenges encountered in the application process. Dean Kuang Xuewen emphasized that Statistics is a fundamental discipline supporting the multi-disciplinary development of the School, and the department should proactively adapt to the trend of interdisciplinary integration, strengthen cross-disciplinary innovation with fields such as Economics, Management, and Big Data Science, and comprehensively enhance the core competitiveness and influence of the discipline.

Professor Fang Ying provided targeted guidance for the discipline construction and put forward professional suggestions on key issues including the refinement of disciplinary research directions, the optimization of faculty construction, and the improvement of talent cultivation programs.

This meeting has clarified the direction and provided a clear roadmap for the development of Statistics at Nanchang University. The School will fully absorb and implement the expert advice, promote high-quality development and efficiency improvement of the discipline, and contribute to the University’s "Double First-Class" construction initiative.
