Program Overview

Approved as a professional master's program by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in 2022, Applied Statistics offers four key research directions: Social and Economic Statistics, Financial Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, and Applied Statistics.

Strengths and Features

Leveraging the advantage of a comprehensive university with a complete range of disciplines, we promote interdisciplinary integration and establish a distinctive disciplinary system. This system is built on the foundation of socio-economic statistics, focuses on in-depth big data analytics, and expands into financial statistics and risk management as well as industrial statistics.

1. Strengthening socio-economic statistics by relying on our economics program—designated as one of the first national first-class undergraduate programs, a five-star program in Jiangxi Province and the economics discipline ranked among the world’s top disciplines.

2. Refining big data analytics and industrial statistics by leveraging our faculty team specialized in general statistics and the doctoral program authorized for the first-level discipline of statistics.

3. Developing distinctive financial statistics by building on our finance program which is a national first-class undergraduate program and our applied economics discipline which is a provincial first-class discipline in Jiangxi.

4. Our full-time faculty are dedicated to both research and teaching, having produced a wealth of outstanding research outcomes. These include multiple major and key projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China and general projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Faculty members have also published papers in top-tier academic journals such as Management Science, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Research, Statistical Research, and The Journal of Quantitative & Technical Economics.
