The Economics program (offering three specializations: Modern Economics, Economic Statistics, and International Economics) is recognized as a member of the first batch of National First-Class Undergraduate Program Construction Sites, a Jiangxi Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Program, and a Provincial "Specialty Comprehensive Reform Pilot Project". It is also a BGA International Accreditation Demonstration Program Construction Site. The program has consecutively ranked first in the Jiangxi Provincial Undergraduate Program Comprehensive Evaluation and been rated as a Jiangxi Provincial Five-Star Undergraduate Program Site.With a long-standing educational history and strong academic strength, the program boasts an outstanding faculty team led by national-level talents and senior professors, supplemented by young and middle-aged doctors graduated from renowned universities at home and abroad such as the National University of Singapore and Peking University. It features a complete talent training chain covering undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs.

Guided by Marxist Political Economy, the program aims to cultivate interdisciplinary and innovative talents with solid foundations in economic theories and quantitative analysis, who are capable of solving practical economic and management issues using modern economic analysis paradigms. Amid the vigorous development of new-generation information technology, the program will strengthen innovation in economics education under technological transformation, focus on enhancing students' capabilities in big data statistics and economic decision-making in the digital economy era, and consolidate the construction of economics as a new liberal arts discipline.

With nearly half a century of talent cultivation experience, the program has nurtured a number of outstanding alumni in the political, business, and academic fields. Graduates can either pursue further studies in various branches of economics or engage in economic analysis, forecasting, planning, operation, management, and teaching work in economic management departments, policy research institutions, financial sectors, enterprises, and educational institutions.
