On December 27, 2025, at 14:30, School of Economics and Management held an academic exchange meeting in Room B607 of Zhihua Building. Associate Professor Meng Fanran from the University of Sheffield, UK, was invited to deliver an academic lecture. The event was hosted by Professor Tian Xi and attended by approximately 30 master's and doctoral students from the school.
Through the presentation of a series of research papers, Associate Professor Meng shared insights on “Accounting for Industrial Carbon Emissions and Pathways to Low-Carbon Transition.” Focusing on the chemical industry—a sector characterized by high energy consumption and carbon emission intensity, Professor Meng systematically introduced the construction of carbon emission models, data development and integration and uncertainty analysis for the entire life cycle of chemical production. He proposed that future research could focus on how to reduce carbon emissions from emerging industries and production processes. Meanwhile, he introduced cutting-edge research directions in the green and low-carbon development pathways of industries to the master's and doctoral students present, and also provided guidance on thesis topics and research design for the attending students. Professor Meng's rigorous academic attitude, professional academic accomplishments and international perspective brought great benefits to the audience and fostered an engaging atmosphere throughout the lecture.

In the subsequent exchange session, teachers and students conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as the life cycle assessment method involved in the papers and the internal logic of low-carbon development theories. The on-site interaction was enthusiastic. Professor Meng gave detailed and in-depth answers to each question. The lecture was rich in academic substance and concluded with notable success.
