Recently, a collaborative research, titled "Digital institutions and virtual involvement of born-digital firms," by Special Researcher Feng Dongfa from SEM, Assistant Professor Tang Yinuo from the HSBC Business School of Peking University, Professor Shen Yan from the National Development Research Institute of Peking University, and Tenured Associate Professor Bu Juan from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, has been officially published online in Journal of International Business Studies, one of the top-tier international academic journals.

This study, based on global privacy law texts, characterizes the intensity of digital privacy regulation across countries. It employs digital advertising expenditure as a proxy for the degree of virtualized market entry by firms and utilizes an unbalanced panel dataset of 194 Chinese and American digital-native firms across 33 countries from 2016 to 2022 for empirical analysis. The research reveals that stringent digital privacy regulations in host countries inhibit the degree of corporate virtualization entry. However, this negative impact can be mitigated by a larger digital market in the host country, stricter digital regulatory systems in the home country, and more positive public sentiment toward enterprises.
Journal of International Business Studies, founded in 1970 and published by the Academy of International Business (AIB), is one of the most influential and authoritative top-tier academic journals in the field of international business. According to the latest Journal Citation Reports (JCR), the journal has an impact factor of 9.0 for 2024. The publication of this research marks an important breakthrough for our school in the interdisciplinary field of digital economy and international business.
